Situated 23 miles southwest of Chicago Loop, Orland Hills is the youngest of the Cook County villages. It borders Orland Park on the west and north, and Tinley Park on the east and south. Formerly open prairie land, the Orland Hills town ship of 1 and a half square miles fits snugly into the general Orland Park area demographics though originally it was called Westhaven when it was incorporated in 1961.

The land now known as forming Orland Hills was first sold to six land speculators in 1836 and by 1850 a number of farms had been established and developed whereupon the population growth suddenly rocketed, though it wasn’t until 1986 that the name Orland Hills was bestowed on the village in keeping with the Orland Park area.

The population currently stands at 7,147.
