Formerly known as North Palos, Hickory Hills is a mainly residential community in the northeast quarter of the Palos district of southwest Chicago. Predominantly a Native American area before the 1830s, the Hickory Hills and Palos regions are still virtually half forest with over 10,000 acres of natural woodland being given Forest Preserve status since 1916.
