Formerly known as Black Oaks Grove when it began life as a small farming community, The Village of Oak Lawn, as it is now called, is home to around 56,000 residents. In 1930 there were only 3,000 residents but the figure rose markedly in the decades following the end of WWII due to an influx of migrant workers from the south side of Chicago.
