Shareholders in the Kodak bankruptcy case have already been denied the opportunity to be heard in the bankruptcy case by having a shareholder committee to represent their interests in the case. College fights in bankruptcy court for endowment money

It all began with biology professor, James D. Long, bestowed an endowment of $1 million to his alma matter, Lon Morris College, when he died in March 2009. The money was to be used in small amounts over 50 yeas; however, if the college collapsed the money was to go to Sam Houston State University. Lon Morris filed for bankruptcy and it appears that the money in question has disappeared. The money remaining is causing arguments on both sides. Versace Mansion being sold in bankruptcy auction

The home of famous fashion designer Gianni Versace, where he was murdered in 1997, is going on the auction block in bankruptcy court. The owner filed for bankruptcy relief as the lender was eyeing the property for a foreclosure sale. The bankruptcy filing stayed any foreclosure proceedings; however, now the home is scheduled to be sold in a bankruptcy auction to be held in September. Eva Longoria’s bankrupt boyfriend

Eva Longoria may need to secure her $35 million fortune or at the very least, she should not co-sign with her current boyfriend. Based on bankruptcy court documents from 2012, Longoria’s new boyfriend, Ernesto Arugello, may be a credit risk. He filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy relief last year with over $4 million of debt. The Fair Housing Act of 1968 changed the landscape of home ownership by allowing more women to be approved for mortgage loans without a husband. Grammy Award winning signer Lauryn Hill is in prison

Over the past decade, Grammy Award winning singer Lauryn Hill failed to pay about $1 million in taxes and that error caught up with her this week. Hill reported to a federal prison in Danbury this week to begin serving a three-month prison term for tax evasion. The prison is a minimum-security facility but inmates are expected to perform duties such as food service, landscaping or maintenance. Casey Anthony bankruptcy settlement

Casey Anthony and the bankruptcy trustee have reached a settlement regarding the trustee’s motion to sell the rights to Anthony’s life story to help pay the nearly $800,000 that she owes. The trustee argued that the rights to her life story was an asset of the bankruptcy estate and should be sold to pay her debts but Anthony’s attorneys objected. Toni Braxton finally may exit bankruptcy

Toni Braxton filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2010 claiming she owed debts topping out at $50 million. Issues such as buying back some of her personal property from the bankruptcy estate and arguing over overseas income has kept the bankruptcy case open for almost three years.
